Palencia, the first university city in Spain and the cradle of Spanish university tradition is historically linked with the large district of the University of Valladolid. Near to the city of Valladolid, Palencia combines the virtues of its monumental historical quarter with the advantages for research and study offered by its broad range of courses as well as the closely-knit infrastructure and resources available to education and research, a field in which it occupies an outstanding position on both the regional and national stage. Its three university centres are located on the Yutera Campus: the University College of Education, the Higher Technical College of Agricultural Engineering and the Faculty of Labour Sciences, which together total over 40 lecture theatres and 27 laboratories.
There is also a library offering 450 reading places together with a range of specialised facilities (for language learning, music, technical drawing, physical education, etc.), as well as different areas for carrying out experiments and practical classes, all of which comes to underline the importance attached to higher education in a historical city that is firmly committed to progress.
